Big Sky Stables offers lessons and horse training at one of the nicest equestrian facilities in the region, with a mid-size sand arena, round pen, shaded paddocks, and direct access to river crossings and scenic trails ideal for conditioning and training. Marlie Perkins
Riding Instructor & Kid Whisperer
We’re absolutely stoked to have Marlie as part of our Big Sky Stables team. With a lifetime of experience in English riding disciplines—including hunter/jumper, eventing, and dressage—plus a degree in Animal Behavior, Marlie brings a thoughtful, science-based approach to her lessons. She’s especially gifted with kids, creating sessions that are safe, fun, and full of connection—both with the horse and the moment.
When she’s not busy teaching, Marlie is a mom, a director of SOS Animal Rescue in San Juan del Sur, and spends the summer season instructing at Great Island Riding Academy in New Hampshire, one of the area’s top programs for young equestrians.
Kim West
Riding Instructor & 3-Day Eventing Specialist
We’re proud to have Kim teaching at Big Sky Stables. An international three-day eventer and show jumper from the UK, Kim spent decades competing and coaching across Europe with British teams in eventing, show jumping, and dressage.
After retiring from competition, she relocated to Nicaragua with her husband Mick and her horse Christopher. Drawing on years of experience at the top levels of the sport, Kim offers private lessons for riders who value expert instruction, technical precision, and a direct, professional approach to horsemanship.
